The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) Program is structured, and had approved by Lawrence Tech’s Board of Trustee. The Master of Science in Industrial Engineering with thesis requires a total of 24 course credits plus six credits of thesis research. Non-Thesis option requires a total of 30 course credits.

Program Policies and Procedures

Admission Requirements

Admission to the Master of Science in Industrial Engineering (MSIE) program requires:

-     An undergraduate degree in engineering, science, math, computer science, physical science or any other discipline from an accredited college or university. For students with degrees in fields other than engineering, prerequisite coursework is required prior to beginning the graduate level work.

-     Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0

-     Graduate admissions application and fee

-     Three letters of recommendation

-     Official transcripts of all college work completed

-     GRE encouraged but not required

-     A resume including professional experiences and extracurricular activities

-     For students whose native language is other than English, proficiency in English needs to be established

Applicants who do not meet all of the conditions for regular graduate admission may be considered for conditional admission. A conditional graduate student will be granted regular status after maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA in three consecutive graduate-level courses.

For students who wish to transfer from another university’s graduate program, a maximum of six credit hours may be transferred. Courses to be transferred should have been completed within the last five years with a grade of 3.0 or better.

Transfer Procedure

A maximum of 6 semester hours for graduate engineering courses taken at other accredited engineering colleges may be transferred provided they are deemed relevant by the Engineering Graduate Admissions Committee. Courses to be transferred must have been taken in the last five years and a grade of “B” (3.00) or better must have been achieved. The student should petition the Engineering Graduate Admissions Committee by letter prior to completion of the first semester of graduate work. The student must submit evidence in addition to transcripts in the form of syllabi and examinations for each transfer course proposed. The Committee may require the applicant to demonstrate proficiency in the subject through interviews with faculty members who have expertise in the subject.


Industrial Engineering Industrial Advisory Board

The Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) consists of industry leaders in the application of industrial engineering techniques industry consultants, and experts in the field. Their role is to support the academic program and give periodic inputs to the faculty on curriculum issues.
