1. What is a theremin?
   A musical instrument that plays without being touched, and the player can control the pitch and volume.
   
   
2. And its electrical??
   It was invented in 1919 by the Russian engineer Leon Theremin. Originally, the theremin was intended to replace entire orchestras with its "music from the ether."
   
   
3. It is sometimes called the first electronic musical instrument. The sound is spooky and was the background music for 1950-60's movies including "It Came From Outer Space" and "Lost Weekend".
   
4. and Led Zeppelin used it.
   It has an electronic oscillator, in tune with the reference, which has a variable frequency controlled by the proximity of your hand to a capacitive sensing element.
