It appears that not all the laptops have the Adobe Reader software pre-loaded (even though it is FREE and nearly universally used!).
I post my previous exam solutions with the Acrobat format (since it is so universally used), and thus you will need Reader (Version 5 or above) to read some of my previous exams.
Here are the links you need, and the steps to follow to load the Reader software
1) First, make sure you don't already have it ... try going to the START menu, then RUN, then type ACRORD32.EXE and clicking OK. [If it runs, CHECK TO SEE THE VERSION - If it is 5.0, you are fine.] If your machine says it can't find it, you need to continue....
2) Before you can install Acrobat Reader, you must have "administrator rights" on your machine. This means that you should "add yourself to the local administrator group" for your machine. [This is part of the initial "setup" you should do for your machine - if you haven't done it, you can click here to see the LTU Help desk instructions, or click here for Dr. Schneider's version of those instructions.] Note, I suggest you do this step (if you haven't already) and then ALWAYS stay in your "LTU4" account (even when not on campus).
3) Once you are sure you are in the local administrator group (as in Step 2), then you can download and install the Acrobat Reader software. You should be able to download the software here (it is over 10 megs) : acrobat reader installer (make sure you select WIN2000/XP for the Platform). Once you download the file, go find it and double-click on it to install it. [Note : When you are installing, if you get an error message saying something like "unInstallShield is running ..." - that means that you are NOT set up with your LTU4 account in the Local Administrator Group - go back to step 2 again!]
Now you should be able to just "double-click" on any Acrobat (*.pdf) files, and Reader will automatically open and display that document.
