The first time a student or faculty get loaded into the Blackboard system, they are given an email address using their Bb username (2 letters, 9 numbers of the banner id). This is completely wrong for the faculty and MUST be changed by the faculty. For the students, they may leave that as their email, or they might want to change it to an external email address. (Note: there can only be ONE address on that line ... and as a student, you can't just put your name and @ltu.edu - on campus it is your Bb username and @ltu.edu ... or it is some email address that YOU supply from the outside.)
Step 1) Pick any course in Blackboard - changing the email address in one, changes it in all of them (and it should "stick" with you, term to term). Select TOOLS. Note: Occasionally, mysteriously, the email address sometimes becomes just the @ symbol. Thus, you should check it at the start of every term to make sure it is the address you intended (and this @-thing didn't happen!). |

Step 2) Select PERSONAL INFORMATION |

Step 3)Select EDIT PERSONAL INFORMATION. (Note, you could also change your Bb password if you need, before you change your email. I would recommend closing the browser after submitting the new password, and then starting it back up again.) |
Step 4) Enter your valid email address. As a student, you can't create one just by adding @ltu.edu to some combination of your names - the only valid oncampus address for students is their blackboard username and @ltu.edu. Or, enter a valid external email address (but if you have problems with your external email provider - that is your responsibility, not LTU's!). |
Step 5) Click SUBMIT at the bottom of the page. You could now test it by going to COMMUNICATION and SEND EMAIL and SELECT USERS and find yourself and send a test email. |
